The Job Role:
As Crop Trials Research Assistant you will be responsible for researching and developing a wide range of agricultural crops to support the Research Agronomists and Station Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct R&D activities, including application, planting, sampling, assessment, recording, analysing and harvesting of crop commodities.
Work on field and glasshouse studies on range of crops including cereals, potatoes, oilseed rape and vegetables.
Prepare and handle seed stocks and chemical stocks for maintenance and treatments on field studies.
Support the Research Agronomist with the effective execution and coordination of all research activities in your area of operations. Ensuring that high quality trials are implemented, maintained, assessed and the resulting data reported to stakeholders in a timely and efficient manner.
Maintain good communication with the local team and regional / global stakeholders.
Keep up to date and work within relevant field methodologies, including where appropriate EPPO and country testing guidelines.
Within your area of operations, stay up to date with developments in agricultural best practices and act as a point of contact for any technical queries.
Actively participate and contribute to the growth of the company portfolio.
Ensure safe and compliant use and storage of all chemical products by maintaining a zero tolerance for any contaminations at and around the site.
Analyse and present data utilising specialist software.
Ensure that all activities at the site are compliant with corporate rules and that a safe working environment is maintained.
Candidate Requirements:
At least 2 years' experience in a similar role - crop trials, R&D, crop husbandry, field trials or agronomy.
Agriculture, Agronomy, Life science or similar (BSc, equivalent or higher).
PA1 - NPTC Certificate.
PA6 - NPTC Certificate.
Full UK Drivers Licence.
IT literate.
Excellent communication skills and self-motivated.
